OMAHA, Neb. -- Reyvin Hernandez scored two goals to lead the short-handed Bellevue University women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Viterbo University in the NSAA-Opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at Caniglia Field.

With their third-straight win BU improves to 8-3-0 (1-0-0 NSAA) while Viterbo falls to 3-6-3 (0-1-0 NSAA) with the loss.

Bellevue played the final 57:31 down a player following a red card.

The teams went into halftime tied 0-0 with Bellevue holding a sizable 7-2 advantage in shots.

BU opened the scoring in the 53rd minute on Hernandez's first goal. After receiving a pass she took a shot from near the corner of the box that she placed into the nearside upper corner.

Just 51 seconds later the V-Hawks equalized on a strike from Macey Kalscheur who unleashed a shot from the top of the box to the nearside bottom corner.

Bellevue took the lead for good in the 64th minute when Hernandez found the back of the net for the second time in the game. Hernandez took the ball from midfield, dribbled in to just outside the 18-yard box and let fly a shot that beat the keeper high.

For the match BU out-shot the V-Hawks by a 17-5 (7-3 on goal) margin. Corner kicks were even at five apiece.

Abby Breitbach (L, 3-6-3) made five saves for Viterbo while Laurence Rodier stopped two shots for Bellevue.

The Bruins return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 11 when they travel to Davenport, Iowa for a 3 p.m. kickoff at St. Ambrose University.
