KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced today that 568 women's soccer student-athletes, including Bellevue University's Aubriana Batchelor and Betsy Fischenich, have been named 2015 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Both seniors, Batchelor and Fischenich were named to the 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes as well as being named First Team All-North Star selections earlier this year.
Goshen (Ind.) led all programs with 14 individuals on the list.
Batchelor – a defensive midfielder – had her best offensive year to date, scoring a pair of goals and adding two assists for a career-high six points. She was also part of a Bruin defense that conceded just 12 goals on the season while opponents average just 4.6 shots on goal per game. She helped lead the team to 10 shutouts on the year.
Fischenich – a forward – had another fine offensive campaign for the Bruins, scoring a team-leading 15 goals and assisting on seven others for a season total of 37 points. Two of her goals proved to be game-winners, including the first she scored in the North Star semifinal win over Presentation College. She paced the team in goals, assists, and points while ranking second in game-winning goals.
