STERLING, Kan. -- Senior Betsy Fischenich's first half strike would be all the offense the Bellevue University women's soccer team needed in a 2-0 victory at Sterling on Saturday afternoon.

The No. 16 Bruins opened the scoring with Fischenich's third goal of the season in the 18th minute off of a pass from sophomore Madison Stumpf. Bellevue rode that goal and a 10-2 advantage in shots into a 1-0 lead at the halftime break.

Senior Kate Petersen added an insurance goal in the 67th minute for Bellevue, her second tally of the season.

Sophomore Bailey Petzoldt picked up her second win and recorded her first shutout of the season in goal, having to only make one stop.

Fischenich led the Bruins with six shots while freshman Whitney Pratt took three shots on the afternoon. Petersen, sophomore Kristin Hanson, and freshmen Jordyn Seidel and Amanda Eggert each added to.

Bellevue was dominant on both ends of the field, out-shooting Sterling 23-4 (10-1 on goal) while gaining five corner kicks compared to two for the Warriors. Sterling was called for 13 fouls in the match, compared to five called against the Bruins.

Bellevue (3-2-0) is back in action tomorrow with a 1 p.m. match against Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan.
