ORANGE CITY, Iowa -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team received first half goals from sophomore Kristin Hanson and senior Betsy Fischenich as the Bruins went on to post a 2-0 victory over Northwestern College in the Pizza Ranch Classic on Saturday evening.

Hanson netted her first career strike, in the third minute, to put Bellevue up 1-0 and that would be all the offense the Bruins needed. Laurence Rodier recorded the shutout, the first for Bellevue this season, needing to make only one save in the match.

Fischenich didn't wait long to get in on the action and double the BU advantage with an 11th minute strike of her own off a feed from junior Karina Alvarez. The assist was the first point of Alvarez's Bruin career.

The Bruins held a sizable 22-2 edge in shots (8-1 shots on goal) in a match that they owned from start to finish. BU also out-gained the Red Raiders in corner kicks, 5-1, while being whistled for four fouls. Northwestern was called for five fouls.

Bellevue (2-2-0) is back on the pitch on Thursday, Sept. 10 with a 5 p.m. non-conference match at College of Saint Mary.
