
BARTLESVILLE, Okla. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team defeated Oklahoma Wesleyan University 2-1 in the MCAC Tournament championship match on Friday afternoon.
With the win, Bellevue (10-7-3) advances to the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round beginning next Saturday, Nov. 23 at campus sites. The selections and pairings will be announced on Nov. 18 at 2:00 p.m.
Oklahoma Wesleyan ends its season with a 14-4-2 final record.
The Bruins have now won five-straight conference tournament titles and six overall in program history.
BU found the back of the net at the 15:28 mark in the first half on Jenica Bloom's fifth goal of the season to take a 1-0 lead. Lauren Clark was credited with the assist.
The Eagles tied the contest at 1-1 on Amber Brown-Longoria's goal off a corner kick by Serina Gomez in the 34th minute.
Mercy Darkoah netted the game-winning goal at 58:46 on Yaritza Estrada's corner kick. Darkoah leads the Bruins with 14 goals, including four game-winners.
Sammy Sinecio (7-2-0) earned the win in goal for the Bruins, recording five saves. Lauren Mohamed suffered the loss for OWU, falling to 8-3-1 on the season. Mohamed finished with six saves.
The Eagles outshot, 18-14, and also held a 10-2 edge in corner kicks.
Darkoah and Estrada both recorded four shots to lead the BU offensive attack.
