Bellevue posts 6-0 win over Central Christian

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team outshot Central Christian College 37-1 en route to a convincing 6-0 win in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon at Tranquility Park.

With the win, Bellevue improved to 5-6-3 overall and 2-1-0 in the MCAC while Central Christian dropped to 4-11-0 and 1-2-0 in league play.

The Bruins struck first on a goal scored by Michelle Dolder off a corner kick by Jenica Bloom 7:13 into the match.

BU added to its lead in the 12th minute after Kate Petersen stole the ball on a clear out attempt by the CCC defense and beat Tigers' goalkeeper Twila Smedley.

Petersen netted her second goal of the first half on a header off a corner kick by Bloom at 38:29.

The Bruins notched their fourth goal of the contest on an own goal that deflected off of a CCC defender and found the back of the net 5:40 into the second half.

Bloom gave BU a 5-0 lead after she took a pass from Mercy Darkoah and registered her first goal of the season at the 63:52 mark.

Lauren Clark ended the scoring with a goal in the 80th minute.

Bloom led BU with seven shots while Dolder recorded six shots.

Sammy Sinecio improved to 2-1-0 in goal for the Bruins. Smedley (4-11-0) stopped 14 BU shots in the loss for the Tigers.

The Bruins will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 23 for a 1:00 p.m. conference contest against York College at Tranquility Park.
