
OMAHA, Neb. -- Junior Jenica Bloom scored 30 seconds into the second overtime to help the Bellevue University women's soccer team escape with a 2-1 MCAC victory over Waldorf College Wednesday afternoon at Tranquility Park.
With the win, Bellevue remained tied atop the MCAC standings with College of St. Mary, improving to 10-3 on the season and 5-0 in the MCAC. Waldorf fell to 2-10-3 overall and 1-4 in league action.
Blooms's goal was her sixth of the season and her second game-winning goal as she drove down the right sideline past a Warrior defender, scoring the game-winner unassisted.
Bellevue outshot WC, 26-8 and held a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal. Caitlin Stier registered one save while improving to 9-3 on the season.
Waldorf scored just two minutes into the contest with a header from Morgan Aupperle off a corner kick from Jessica Godwin, to give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead.
Bellevue finally found the back of the net with just over three minutes left in regulation when Kate Petersen scored her second goal of the season off a pass from Alyssa Porter at 86:53.
The Bruins will host College of St. Mary at 12 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 20) in a key MCAC matchup at Tranquility Park.
