OMAHA, Neb. -- Freshmen Jenica Bloom and Emily Hester each scored first-half goals as the Bellevue University women's soccer team opened MCAC play with a 2-1 victory over College of St. Mary Wednesday afternoon at Heritage Park.
Bellevue improved to 5-3 on the season and 1-0 in the MCAC. College of St. Mary fell to 1-6-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.
The Flames' only goal was an own goal off a deflected header from Morgan Anderson.
The Bruins continue conference play on Saturday, Oct. 2 when they travel to York, Neb. for a 1 p.m. contest at York College.
