Ferguson leads BU over Central on Senior Day

OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior Whitney Ferguson scored both Bruin goals on Senior Day as the Bellevue University women's soccer team scored a 2-0 shutout over Central Christian College in MCAC action Saturday afternoon at Tranquility Park.

With the win, the Bruins finished the regular season with an 11-6 overall record and a 3-1 mark in the MCAC. Central Christian fell to 3-12-3 and 1-3.

Ferguson's first goal came in the 17th minute off a cross into the box by senior Anne Marie Lind.

The final goal came off a loose ball in the box after senior Jenna Pendley's shot rebounded off the top of the post to Ferguson who scored at 85:37.

Ferguson scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season.

The Bruins controlled the action for the entire game, not allowing a shot in the contest. Bellevue held a 39-0 advantage in shots and a 16-0 edge in shots on goal.

Freshman Sarah Boone improved to 10-6 on the season, playing all 90 minutes in goal while recording her fourth shutout of the season.

The Bruins will travel across town next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7, to participate in the the MCAC Tournament on the College of St. Mary campus. The Flames claimed the league regular-season title with an unblemished 4-0 record.
