Women's soccer tops Morningside, 4-0

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's soccer team defeated Morningside College 4-0 Wednesday evening at Morrison Stadium on the campus of Creighton University.

Bellevue improves to 9-6 on the season, while Morningside falls to 3-11-1.

Freshman Paige Wischmann started the game's scoring in the fifth minute with a shot from eight feet out off a cross into the box from Krystyn Yancone and Jenna Pendley who were both credited with assists. It was Wischmann's sixth goal of the season.

Pendley added to the lead at 18:28 with her team-leading seventh goal of the season on a shot from 13 feet out.
 
Bellevue extended its lead to 3-0 in the 79th minute on a goal by Vannessa Ramos off a cross pass from Araceli Zamarripa. The goal marks Ramos' first goal of the season.   

Senior Anastasia Dascalos scored the final goal of the match with just 21 seconds remaining when she took a cross into the box and beat Mustangs' goalkeeper Adriane Dougherty. Morgan Anderson and Pendley were each credited with assists.

Bellevue controlled the action for the majority of the match and held an 11-4 edge in shots, including a 7-2 advantage in the second half. The Bruins also maintained a 6-0 edge in corner kicks. 

Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Boone started the match and recorded one save to improve to 8-6 on the season. Freshman Shalynn Durham entered the match in goal to begin the second half and recorded two saves to help preserve the shut out.  
 
The Bruins will return to the soccer pitch Saturday, Oct. 24, when they travel to Bartlesville, Okla., for a 1 p.m. match against Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference action.
