Pendley leads Bruins over Ottawa, 2-0

OMAHA, Neb. -- The Bruins scored two early goals and played solid defense en route to a 2-0 victory over Ottawa University in women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon at Tranquility Park.

With the win, Bellevue improved to 5-2 on the season while the Braves fell to 3-2 overall.

Senior Jenna Pendley scored a goal and added an assist to lead the Bruin offense.

Freshman Sarah Boone improved to 4-2, recording her second shutout of the season while collecting one save in the win.

Pendley started the game's scoring at 7:18 with an unassisted goal after the ball was mishandled by the Braves' goalkeeper Lauren Peil, leaving an open net.

Freshman Paige Wischmann scored from the top of the box in the game's 22nd minute to increase BU's lead to 2-0. Junior Krystyn Yancone and Pendley were both credited with the assist.

The Bruins outshot Ottawa 11-7 and held a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal, three coming from Pendley.

Bellevue will be idle until Fri., Sept. 25 when they travel to Wichita, Kan. for a 6 p.m. match at Friends University.
