Yancone leads BU over No. 21 Rocky Mountain

HELENA, Mont. -- Junior Krystyn Yancone scored a pair of goals as the Bellevue University women's soccer team came from behind to defeat 21st-ranked Rocky Mountain College, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at the Carroll College Classic.

The Bruins, who rebounded from a 4-1 loss on Friday to host Carroll College, improved to 3-1 on the season. Rocky Mountain fell to 0-3 on the year. All three of the Bears' losses have come by identical 2-1 scores.

Rocky Mountain struck first with a goal by Lauren Brophy from Kirsty Montignani at 24:49. Yancone tied it up after she scored on a pass from Lynnsey Danker at 34:52.

Yancone got the game winner with just under 20 minutes remaining in the game on a pass from Amy Stigge. It marked the second game-winning goal of her career.

Freshman Shalynn Durham picked up the first win of her career after replacing Sarah Boone in goal for the final 55 minutes of the game. Durham made two saves and allowed one goal in the game.

Bellevue will return home on Wednesday, Sept. 9, for a 7 p.m. nonconference contest against Briar Cliff at Tranquility Park.
