
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Led by Maria Pinedo and Tilde-Li Andersson, the 23rd-ranked Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in first place after the opening day of action at the 14-team Kaitlyn Erickson Doane Invite being played at the 5,965-yard, par-71 Wildnerness Ridge Golf Course.
The Bruins fired a team score of 48-over par 332 and lead second-place Doane University by one stroke.
Pinedo recorded the top BU round on the day with a 9-over par 80, which puts her in fourth place in the 85-player field. Pinedo collected one birdie and nine pars in her opening round.
Andersson is currently tied for fifth place at 10-over par (81). Her round was sparked by registering nine pars.
Ilysia Ibnu is tied for 17th place at 14-over par (85). She collected one birdie and six pars on the day.
Megan Harty carded a 15-over 86 and is in 22nd place. Her round was highlighted by posting six pars.
Aaricia Noel-Traissac is tied for 28th place at 18-over par (89). She had six pars in Monday's opening round.
Chloe Blandinieres, who was competing as an individual, fired a 13-over 84 and is in a tie for ninth place. Eight pars sparked her round.
Morningside's Cameron Spellman leads the field at 5-over par. Doane's Connie Jarm is one stroke back at 6-over.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start at Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln.
