
SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Maria Pinedo took home the individual title in leading the Bellevue University women's golf team to a second-place finish at the OUAZ Fall Invitational, played at the 5.840-yard, par-72 Sterling Grove Golf Club.
The Bruins began the day tied with No. 11 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University after Monday's first two rounds. Embry-Riddle fired a 305 (+17) team round on Tuesday to edge out BU as Bellevue posted an 18-over 306 as a team. In doing so, ERAU finished at 46-over (910) while BU ended the event at 47-over (911).
No. 23-ranked University of Victoria shots 312 (+24) on the day to finish third with a score of 938. Rounding out the field were No. 18 Ottawa University Arizona (320/962), Arizona Christian University (331/968), and The Master's University (323/978).
Pinedo, who began the day four strokes ahead of ERAU's Kaetlin Halseth, turned in an even par 72 to finish at 1-under (215). Halseth shot a 1-under 71 on Tuesday, not quite enough to make up the deficit. Pinedo posted birdies on No. 4 and No. 15 to go along with a huge eagle on No. 9.
Ilysia Ibnu carded a 7-over third round 79 to finish in a tie for fifth place at 13-over (229). She notched a pair of birdies on No. 2 and No. 6 to go along with 10 pars.
Chloe Blandinieres posted a 5-over 77 on the day, finishing seventh with a 15-over, 231 performance in the tournament. She made par on 11 holes while registering birdies on No. 4 and No. 13.
Tilde-Li Andersson matched her best round with a 6-over 78 final round score. She parred eight holes and sunk birdies on No. 1 and No. 9 to finish with a three-round total of 236 (+20).
Aaricia Noel-Traissac recorded her best round of the event with a 9-over 81 on Tuesday. She logged eight pars and made a birdie on No. 9 to finish up the 54-hole event with a score of 248 (+32).
Megan Harty, competing as an individual, shot a 12-over 84 on Tuesday to finish up with a 54-hole total of 266. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on No. 18 and seven pars.
Bellevue next competes at Lochland Country Club in Hastings, Neb. for the Nebraska Intercollegiate on Friday-Saturday, Oct, 4-5.
