BU extends lead after second round at NSAA Championships

CARRINGTON, N.D. -- Led by Maria Pinedo and Aaricia Noel-Traissac, the Bellevue University women's golf team extended its first-round lead by six strokes after the second round of play at the North Star Athletic Association Championships being played at the 5,970-yard, par-72 Crossroads Golf Course. The Bruins occupy four of the top five spots on the individual leaderboard. 

Bellevue is at even par after two rounds after finishing with a 4-over team total of 292, combined with Sunday's 4-under 284. BU holds a 24-stroke lead over Dickinson State University. The University of Jamestown is a distant third, 51 strokes off the pace.  

Pinedo continues to lead the individual standings after posting her second consecutive sub-par round. She is 5-under par for the tournament after finishing with a 1-under par 71 in the second round. Her round consisted of five birdies, four bogeys, and nine pars.  

Noel-Traissac fired a career-best 1-under par 71 and is in second place in the individual standings at 1-under par after collecting an even-par 72 in the opening round.  After carding a two-over 38 on the front nine, she registered a 3-under 33 on the back nine. She finished the day with four birdies, three bogeys, and 11 pars. 

Chloe Blandinieres is in fourth place in the individual race after posting a 4-over 76 to go with Sunday's 2-under 70, putting her at 2-over for the tournament. Her round was sparked by collecting two birdies and 11 pars. 

Ilysia Ibnu matched her opening-round score of 2-over 74, putting her at 4-over for the tournament and in a tie for fifth place in the individual standings. After recording three straight bogeys on 6, 7, and 8, Ibnu finished her round with 10 consecutive pars and a birdie. 

Rounding out the day for the Bruins was Tilde-Li Andersson, who finished with a 6-over 78, putting her at 11-over for the tournament and in a tie for 10th place. Her round was highlighted by a pair of birdies and eight pars.  

The final two rounds of the 72-hole tournament will be played in the spring on April 28-29 at Woodland Hills Golf Course in Eagle, Neb.
