YANKTON, S.D. -- Senior Ilysia Ibnu fired an even-par 72 as the Bellevue University women's golf team finds itself in first place after the first round of play in the season-opening Mount Marty Women's Invitational being played at the 5,656-yard, par-72 Fox Run Golf Course.
The Bruins lead the 13-team field at 17-over par after shooting a team score of 305. Doane is four strokes back at 21-over par. Morningside is one shot out of second at 22-over par.
After suffering a double bogey on the par-4, 365-yard ninth hole to go 3-over par, Ibnu finished 3-under par on the final four holes, including an eagle on the 434-yard, par-5, 10th hole and a birdie on the 369-yard, par-4 11th hole. She parred the final two holes to take the individual lead at even par. Ibnu shot a 4-under 32 on the back nine. She holds a one-stroke lead over Doane's Sydney Streeter.
Tilde-Li Andersson and Chloe Blandinieres each shot a 5-over score of 77 and are tied for sixth place in the 73-player field.
Anderson's round was highlighted with a birdie and 11 pars. Blandinieres opening round was sparked by a pair of birdies and 10 pars.
Maria Pinedo fired a 7-over par 79 and is in a tie for 10th place. She had one birdie and 10 pars in the opening round.
Aaricia Noel-Traissac is in a tie for 16th pace at 8-over par. Eight pars and a birdie highlighted her round.
Megan Harty, who competed as an individual, shot a 4-over par 76 and is in a tie for fourth place in the individual race. She had four birdies and seven pars in the opening round.
Friday's final round will commence with a 10 a.m. shotgun start at Hillcrest Country Club in Yankton.
