Ibnu leads BU to fifth-straight NSAA Tournament title

ONALASKA, Wis. -- Junior Ilysia Ibnu shot the best round of the tournament, recording birdies on two of the final three holes to win the individual title and lead the Bellevue University women's golf team to its fifth-straight North Star Athletic Association title. The 36-hole tournament was played at the 5,982-yar, par-71 Golf Club at Cedar Creek.

The Bruins ran away with the team title, finishing 54 strokes ahead of second-place Viterbo University. BU improved its first-round score by four strokes to end the tournament at 70-over par (321-317). Viterbo finished at 124-over par, and Waldorf was four strokes back in third at 128-over. 

Ibnu, who started the day three strokes out of the lead, fired a 3-over par 74. She was even par on the back nine and finished the day with 12 pars and a pair of birdies. Her two-round total was 13-over par (81-74). 

Chloe Blandinieres finished in a tie for second place in the 29-player field after recording an 8-over 79 in Tuesday's second round to match Monday's eight-over 79, putting her at 16-over for the tournament. Her round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 17th hole. She also had three birdies and eight pars in her second round. 

Aaricia Noel-Traissac and Maria Pinedo tied for fourth place at 20-over par for the tournament. Noel-Traissac matched her opening round score of 81, while Pinedo carded an 11-over 82 to go with Monday's 80. Noel-Traissac had 10 pars on the day, while Pinedo parred nine holes. 

Rounding out the scoring for the Bruins was Megan Harty, who finished in a tie for 11th place at 28-over par. She improved on her opening round score by four strokes, registering an 83 in the second round. She had 10 pars on the day. 

Ibnu, Blandinieres, Noel-Traissac, and Pinedo earned first-team all-NSAA honors for their performances in the tournament. Harty garnered honorable mention accolades. 

Pinedo was named the NSAA Women's Golfer of the Year. Head coach Craig Marsh earned NSAA Coach of the Year honors.  

Ibnu was also Bellevue's representative for the NAIA Champions of Character Award. 

The title marked the 11th conference championship for the Bruins in school history and qualified Bellevue for the NAIA National Championship on May 14-17 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
