Bruins hold 22-stroke lead at Kaitlyn Erickson Invite

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Bellevue University women's golf team occupied three of the top five spots to take a commanding 22-stroke lead after the opening day of competition at the 11-team Kaitlyn Erickson Doane Invite being played at the 5,965-yard, par-71 Wilderness Ridge Country Club.

The Bruins fired a team score of 39-over par (323). Dakota Wesleyan is in second place at 61-over par. Concordia (Neb.) and College of St. Mary are tied for third at 63-over par. 

Junior Maria Pinedo leads the 59-player field after carding a 4-over 75 in Monday's opening round. Pinedo's round was sparked by a pair of birdies and 11 pars. 

Aaricia Noel-Traissac and Ilysia Ibnu are tied for second place at 10-over par. Noel-Traissac shot a 2-over 37 on the back nine. Ibnu had 10 pars in Monday's round. 

Chloe Blandinieres is tied for 13th after registering a 15-over 86. She had 10 pars in the first round. 

Rounding out the scoring for the Bruins was Megan Harty, who finished at 19-over par (90) to put her in a tie for 20th place.  

Tuesday's final round will begin at 9 a.m. at Pioneers Golf Course in Lincoln.
