WINDSOR, Colo. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team holds a commanding 22-stroke lead after the opening round of play at the five-team Battle at the Dance being played at the 5,937-yard, par-72 Raindance National Golf Club.
The Bruins recorded a team score of 332, outpacing second-place Dakota Wesleyan by 22 strokes. Dordt (359), Hastings (375), and York (386) round out the five-team field.
Aaricia Noel-Traissac was the top Bruin golfer in the first round, finishing with a 4-over par total of 76. Her score also marked the best NAIA round on the day, with the top three golfers in the event coming from NCAA Division I Colorado State University. Noel-Traissac's round was highlighted by a pair of birdies and 11 pars.
Maria Pinedo carded a 10-over 82 in Tuesday's first round, registering eight pars and 10 bogeys on the day. She is tied for seventh in the 36-golfer field.
Ilysia Ibnu fired a 13-over first round to find herself in 11th place. She birdied holes No. 7 and 18, adding three pars along the way.
Megan Harty registered a 17-over round and is alone in 16th place. She picked up a birdie on No. 16 to go along with parring five holes.
Rounding out the scoring for the Bruins was Chloe Blandinieres, who shot 20-over and sits in a tie for 17th place. She birdied the third hole and made par on seven others.
Colorado State's Sofia Torres and Lacey Uchida co-lead the individual race at 3-under par.
The tournament will conclude on Wed. (Mar. 20) with a 10 a.m. (MT) shotgun start.
