HASTINGS, Neb. -- Junior Maria Pinedo fired the best round of the tournament to help the Bellevue University women's golf team overcome a five-stroke deficit, capturing the nine-team Bronco Fall Invite being played at the Lochland Country Club. The tournament was hosted by Hastings College.
BU edged opening-round leader Iowa Western Community College by two strokes in the final team standings, finishing at 53-over par with a 24-over par team score of 312 to go along with Monday's 317.
Pinedo tied Iowa Western's Baylie Pike for the individual title after posting a 1-over 73. Both golfers finished at 6-over for the tournament. Pinedo had back-to-back birdies on the front nine, where she carded a 1-under 35. Pike prevailed on the fourth playoff hole to win individual medalist honors.
Ilysia Ibnu finished in a tie for third place in the 56-player field after shooting a 9-over 81, putting her at 12-over par for the tournament. She had one birdie and eight pars on the day.
Aaricia Noel-Traissac registered the second-best BU round on the day with a 5-over 77, finishing the tournament at 19-over, which put her in 11th place. Her round was highlighted by a pair of birdies and nine pars.
Chloe Blandinieres recorded a 9-over 81 in Tuesday's second round. She finished the tournament in sixth place at 16-over par. Blandinieres collected 10 pars on the day.
Megan Harty rounded out the Bruins' scoring, notching a 15-over 87. She finished in a tie for 36th place at 36-over par.
The Bruins will head to Axtell, Neb. on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 6-7, to compete in the Nebraska Intercollegiate being played at the Awarii Dunes Golf Course.
