LeMARS, Iowa -- Junior Maria Pinedo's solid play helped propel the Bellevue University women's golf team to an eighth-place finish in the 12-team Northwest Iowa National Invitational being played at the 5,924-yard, par-72 Willow Creek Golf Club.
The Bruins shot their best round of the tournament with a 25-over par 313 to finish with a three-round total of 955 (320-322-313).
Keiser University ran away with the team title, finishing the tournament at 14-under par, including a 7-under 281 in Tuesday's final round. The Seahawks shot under-par team golf in all three rounds. Texas Wesleyan University finished 24 strokes back at 10-over par.
Pinedo fired the Bruins' top round of the tournament with a 1-over 73. She finished the 54-hole tournament at 11-over par, good for 16th place. Pinedo's third round consisted of two birdies, three bogeys, and 13 pars.
Megan Harty finished in a tie for 29th place after posting a 6-over par 78, putting her at 22-over par for the tournament. Harty birdied the par-3 13th hole and also had 11 pars on the day.
Ilysia Ibnu carded a 10-over 82 for the third-straight round, putting her in a tie for 40th place. Ibnu collected two birdies on the day, both on the front nine, where she posted a 3-over 39.
Chloe Blandinieres shot an 8-over 80 and finished the tournament in a tie for 44th place at 33-over par. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 ninth hole.
Aaricia Noel-Traissac finished the tournament with a 16-over 88, landing her in 52nd place overall in the tournament.
Keiser's Jolie Wong won the individual title, finishing the tournament at 4-under par, edging out teammate Luz Maria Ardila by one stroke. All five KU golfers finished in the top 10 in the 62-player field.
The Bruins will travel to Hastings, Neb. next Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 25-26, to compete in the Bronco Fall Invitational hosted by Hastings College at the Lochland Country Club.
