
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- In the first competition of the spring portion of the 2022-23 season, the Bellevue University women's golf team is in first place after the opening round of play at the Graceland Spring Invitational. The 10-team tournament is being played at the par-72, 5,815-yard Mozingo Lake Golf Course.
The Bruins, led by Maria Pinedo and Tylah Saifoloi, hold a 17-stroke lead over second-place Park University, finishing with a team score of 42-over par 330.
Pinedo and Saifoloi are tied for first place in the 56-player field after both players fired 6-over-par 78's on the day.
Pinedo's round was highlighted by one birdie and 11 pars. Saifoloi also recorded one birdie along with 10 pars.
Ilysia Ibnu shot a 14-over 86 and is in a tie for fifth place.
In her first round as a Bruin, Aaricia Noel-Traissac carded a 16-over 88 and is currently tied for eighth place.
Megan Harty is tied for 40th place after shooting a 106 on Friday.
The tournament will conclude on Saturday with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
