BU finishes in a tie for 19th; Pinedo makes cut

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team narrowly missed the cut after two rounds of play at the 2022 NAIA Women's Golf National Championship being played at par-72, 6,013-yard Lincoln Park Golf Club (West Course). Freshman Maria Pinedo, however, will advance to Friday's final round of play after finishing in the top 40 individually. 

The top 17 teams and the top 40 individuals made the cut, advancing to Friday's final round of play. Bellevue finished in a tie for 19th place after shooting a team total of 18-over par 306. Combined with Wednesday's 22-over 310, the Bruins finished the tournament at 40-over par (310-306 -- 616).  

British Columbia extended its overall lead to 10 strokes after equalling its opening-round score with a 2-over team total of 286, putting the Thunderbirds at 4-over par after two rounds. 

Oklahoma City is in second with team totals of 290 and 292. 

Truett McConnell's MinJi Kang is the individual leader after recording the top round of the tournament with a 6-under 66. She is 9-under for the tournament, three strokes ahead of Oklahoma City's Maddi Kamas. 

Pinedo fired the Bruins' top round of the tournament with an even-par 72, which put her at 6-over par and in a tie for 35th place. She had four birdies, four bogeys, and 10 pars on the day. 

Senior Allison Temple carded a 5-over par 77 and finished the tournament at 8-over and in a tie for 48th place. Temple's round was highlighted by consecutive birdies on the fifth and sixth holes. 

Junior Tylah Saifoloi registered a 4-over 76, putting her at 12-over after 36 holes and in a tie for 83rd place in the 156-player. field. Her second round was sparked by three birdies.

Freshman Ilysia Ibnu shot a 9-over 81, finishing the tourney at 14-over par and in a tie for 98th place. Ibnu had two birdies and six pars on the day. 

Freshman Megan Harty tallied a 14-over 86 and was 25-over for the tournament and in a tie for 143rd place. She did have one birdie and seven pars in the second round.
