
OMAHA, Neb. -- Led by Tylah Saifoloi, the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in fourth place after the opening round of play at the Creighton Classic being played at the 5,952-yard, par 73 Oak Hills Country Club.
The Bruins are the only non-NCAA Division I team in the five-team field.
Northern Iowa leads the field after posting an 11-over par team score of 303 in Monday's first round. Creighton is three strokes back at 14-over par. Drake recorded a team score of 30-over par 322 and is in third place, one stroke ahead of the Bruins who registered a 323 team sum. Omaha rounds out the team scoring at 36-over par (328).
Saifoloi is currently tied for seventh in the 36-player field after firing a 5-over 78. Madison Brooks sits in a tie for 13th at 7-over par (80). Mikayla King is currently at 8-over par and is tied for 16th. Allison Temple completed BU's scoring on the day, carding an 11-over 84, which puts her in a tie for 24th place.
UNI's Emily Snelling was the lone player to shoot under par with a 1-under 72. She leads by two strokes over a group of three players, Creighton's Katie Allen and Margaret Hickey, and UNI's Hannah Bermel.
Tuesday's second and final round will begin with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start.
