Bruins in first after opening round of NSAA Championships

Day 1 Results

BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Led by Madison Brooks, the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in first place after the opening round of the 2019 North Star Athletic Association Championships held at the 5,802-yard, par-72 Platteview Golf Club. 

The Bruins shot a team score of 67-over par 355 and hold a 16-stroke lead over second-place Dickinson State which shot a 371 on Monday. Waldorf is in third with a 378-team total. Viterbo is five strokes off third place at 383. 

Moore fired an opening-round 10-over 82 and is two strokes ahead of Dickinson's Riley Helmick, who shot a 12-over 84. The Bruins' Kim Moore is in third place at 13-over par 85. 

Viterbo's Bailey Schmidt and the Blue Hawks' Jace Steier are tied for fourth place at 17-over par (89). Waldorf's Nicole Misner is in sixth place at 18-over par and the Warriors' Seeret Brar is in seventh at 21-over par. 

Allison Temple and Morgan Hazzard are currently tied for eighth place with opening-round 22-over par 94's on Monday. 

The final round will begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow.
