Bruins cruise to Concordia Spring Invite title

Results

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Led by Faustina Peve, the Bellevue University women's golf team cruised to the team title at the 11-team Concordia University Spring Invite being played at the 5,800-yard par-72 Highlands Golf Course. It marked the first team championship for the Bruins in the 2017-18 season. 

The Bruins finished with a two-day team total of 613 after posting the top team score of the tournament with a 17-over par 305 to go along with Thursday's team total of 308. Morningside and Briar Cliff both tied for second, 15 strokes back with 36-hole team totals of 628.

Peve posted the top BU round on the day at 2-over par 74, finishing the tournament at 8-over par (78-74), which put her in a tie for second place in the 73-player field.  

Briar Cliff's Taylor Minger won the individual title, finishing the tournament at 5-over par with rounds of 73 and 76. 

Kim Moore and Allison Temple both tied for fourth place as each ended the tournament at 9-over par. 

Madison Brooks earned a ninth-place showing after going 11-over par for the tournament with rounds of 76 and 79.

Shelby Schneider shot an 80, putting her in a tie for 13th place with teammate Morgan Hazzard as both ended the tournament at 17-over par. 

The Bruins will compete in the final two rounds of the North Star Athletic Association Tournament on April 30-May 1 in Waverly, Iowa at the Prairie Links Golf Course. BU is currently in third place, 12 strokes out of the lead after the first two rounds which were played on Sept. 25-26 in Medora, N.D.
