
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Led by Kim Moore, the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in ninth place after the opening round of the BU Spring Break Classic being played at the par-71 Brackenridge Park Golf Course Friday.
The Bruins shot a team score of 47-over-par 331 in the first round. Top-ranked Texas Wesleyan University leads the 11-team field after shooting a 17-over-par 301. Dalton State is one stroke back at 302.
Moore shot a 2-over 73 on Friday and is tied for third place, one shot off the lead, in the 59-player field. Morgan Hazzard is tied for 16th place at 7-over par. Faustina Peve fired a 9-over 80 and is tied for 24th place. Rounding out the Bruins' scoring on the day was Allison Temple, who carded a 14-over 85, good for a tie for 40th place.
Rian Moores of Murray State CC and Texas Wesleyan's Trudy Allen are tied for the individual lead at 1-over par.
Other Bruin scores on Friday included Madison Brooks (88), Bri Stagge (95) and Shelby Schneider (95).
Saturday's final round will begin with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
