Rain interrupts play at NAIA Women's Golf Nationals

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Rainy and wet conditions forced a halt in play Tuesday in the first round of the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships being played at the par-72, 6,013-yard PGA National - Squire Course. 

Three Bruins completed play Tuesday. However, Ivane Helias and Faustina Peve were only able to finish 16 of the 18 holes. 

Of the teams that finished the entire round, Oklahoma City University leads the 30-team field after shooting an 18-over-par total of 306. Bellevue is tied for 23rd place at 50-over-par. 

Helias was 7-over-par after 16 holes, leading the Bruins on the day and is currently tied for 31st place. Wendy Monfort finished at 10-over-par with an 82, which puts her in a tie for 70th place. Peve is 13-over-par after 16 holes and tied for 102nd.

Bri Stagge shot a 92 on the day and is tied for 144th. Morgan Hazzard carded a 100 on the day.  

Indiana Tech's Courtney Dye and William Carey's Aleesha Smith lead the 161-player tournament field after both shot even-par 72's on the day. 

Those golfers who did not complete play, including Helias and Peve, will complete their first round at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, before the second round begins at 7:30 a.m.

The top 17 teams and the top 40 individuals after Thursday's third round make the cut for Friday's final round.
