Bellevue University head women's golf coach Shelly Liddick announced today the signing of junior college transfer Madison Brooks (Farmersville, Texas/McLennan CC/Farmersville HS) to a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at BU beginning in the fall of 2017.

Brooks played one season at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas and will have three years of eligibility remaining. She helped the Highlassies win the NJCAA Region V Championships earlier this month as McLennan qualified for the NJCAA National Championships on May 15-18 in Duluth, Ga.

A standout high school player at Farmersville High School, she competed in 25 tournaments in her high school career, claiming five championships and 25 top-10 finishes. Brooks was named a four-time team MVP.

"Madison Brooks is an outstanding person with a strong passion for the game of golf," said Liddick. "She exemplifies what it means to be a 'student-athlete'. Madison is as strong in the classroom as she is on the golf course."

The daughter of Jason and Stephanie, Brooks recorded a 78.3 scoring average and was the district champion in her senior season at FHS. She was also the Regional medalist with a 77.5 scoring average. Her career high school low was 75.

An excellent student, Brooks was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated with honors at FHS. She will earn her associate's degree from MCC in just one year.

"We are very excited to have Madison join our women's golf program this fall," added Liddick. "She will step in and immediately play a significate role in the continued success of the Bellevue University women's golf program."

Brooks joins earlier signees Shelby Schneider (Bennington, Neb./Omaha Burke HS), Allison Temple (Norfolk, Neb./Norfolk HS) and Kim Moore (Scottsbluff, Neb./Metropolitan State/Scottsbluff HS) in the 2017-18 recruiting class.

The Bruins, who captured their sixth-straight conference title last week, advanced to the NAIA National Championships for the fifth consecutive year. Bellevue will compete at Nationals on May 23-26 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
