ONALASKA, Wis. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team increased its lead by nine strokes after the third round of the NSAA Women's Golf Championships being played at the 5,823-yard, par-71 Golf Club at Cedar Creek Monday afternoon.
The tournament is a continuation of the tournament's first two rounds which were played on Sept. 26-27 in Albert Lea, Minn.
Bellevue owns a 34-shot lead heading into tomorrow's fourth and final round. The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic berth into the NAIA National Championships on May 23-26 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
The Bruins have a three-round team total of 992 (335-324-333). Viterbo is in second place at 1,026. Waldorf sits in third place at 1,047.
Individually, the Bruins have three of the top five golfers in the 39-player field. Faustina Peve is in first place after shooting a 10-over-par 81 on the day for a 54-hole total of 23-over par (238). Ivane Helias has moved into second place after firing a 7-over-par 78 for a three-round total of 24-over-par, one shot off the pace.
Wendy Monfort is nine strokes off the lead after carding a 9-over-par 80 on the day. Morgan Hazzard is tied for 16th place with a 54-hole total of 277. She shot a 94 on the day.
Tuesday's final round will begin at 9 a.m.
