HUTCHINSON, Kan. -- Led by three players in the top six, the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in second place after the first round at the Midwest Spring Fling hosted by Sterling College at the Cottonwood Hills Golf Club.

The Bruins shot a team score of 327 and trail first-place Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) University by 10 strokes.

Wendy Monfort is currently tied for first with an opening-round score of 6-over par 78. Ivane Helias is just behind Monfort at 7-over par and is tied for third. Faustina Peve recorded four birdies on the day and is in sixth place with a first round score of 8-over-par 80. 

Morgan Hazzard is tied for 10th with a score of 90 and Bri Stagge is in 16th place with a first round total of 99. 

Embry-Riddle's Trae Jones is tied with Monfort for first place. 

Tuesday's final round will commence with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
