ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Sophomore Wendy Monfort won individual medalist honors to lead the Bellevue University women's golf squad to the team title at the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bear Classic Tuesday at the 5,902-yard, par-72 Hillcrest Golf Club.

The Bruins, who were the only NAIA squad in the eight-team field, edged out the University of Central Missouri and St. Cloud State University by two strokes to claim the championship. The seven other teams in the tournament were all NCAA Division II programs.

Bellevue finished with a team total of 649 (330-319) for 36 holes.

Monfort fired a 4-over par 76 on the day for a two-day total of 11-over par 155 (79-76). She tied Central Missouri's Olivia Sobaski, but was declared the winner after using tie-breaker criteria.

Hannah Maschong shot the top round of the day with a 3-over par 75, moving her into a tie for fourth place with a 14-over par two-round total of 158 (83-75). She and Monfort were both named to the all-tournament team.

Faustina Peve tied for 15th place at 22-over par after matching her first round score of 83 for a 166 (83-83) total.

Ivane Helias rounded out the Bruins' scoring after carding a 36-hole total of 170 (85-85), which put her into a tie for 23rd place.

Bellevue will participate in the North Star Athletic Association Fall Tournament on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 26-27 in Albert Lea, Minn.
