PUEBLO, Colo. -- Led by freshman Faustina Peve, the Bellevue University women's golf team finished in seventh place in the 14-team Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal hosted by Colorado State University-Pueblo. The season-opening tournament was played at the 6,190-yard, par-72 Pueblo Country Club.
Bellevue was the lone NAIA team in the tournament, which featured 13 NCAA Division II squads.
West Texas A&M University claimed the team title with a two-day total of 611, eight strokes better than second place Metro State University. The Bruins shot a 36-hole total of 642, with identical 321 team totals each day.
Peve finished in a tie for third place in the 79-player field after finishing with an 8-over par 36-hole total of 152 (73-79).
West Texas A&M's Mattye Mason was the tournament medalist after firing a 2-over total of 146 (72-74).
