OKLAHOMA CITY -- Paced by Ivane Helias' 3-over 147 the Bellevue University women's golf team is in fourth place after two rounds of play in the Oklahoma City University Spring Invitational.
The tournament is taking place at the par-72, 5,942 yard Lincoln Park Golf Course-East Course.
McLennan Community College (584) is the tournament leader through 36 holes, 10 strokes ahead of Oklahoma Christian. Oklahoma City (602) is third, followed by Bellevue (610) a stroke ahead of Redlands Community College (611).
Through 36 holes, Helias is pacing the Bruins on the strength of a 1-under opening round and a 4-over second round. She's a stroke ahead of Natalia Soria at this point as both Helias (5th) and Soria (8th) are in the top 10 individually.
Karissa Moreland shot under 80 in both rounds today for a 36-hole score of 156, good for 27th overall. Maria Saavedra and Renee Santoyo are tied for 33rd with identical scores of 158. Santoyo is golfing as an individual. Wendy Monfort, BU's final golfer, shot a two-round 161 and is in 41st place.
As a team, Bellevue co-leads the field, along with McLennan Community College after recording 23 birdies through the tournament's first two rounds.
Helias (9), Soria (4), Saavedra (4), Monfort (4), Moreland (2), and Santoyo (2) have all birdied multiple holes thus far. Helias birdied a field-best seven holes in the first round.
Play continues tomorrow with the third and final round of the Oklahoma City University Spring Invitational.
