BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Freshman Wendy Monfort (Brest, France) has been named the North Star Athletic Association's Women's Golfer of the Week, it was announced today.
Monfort placed third individually out of 81 golfers, helping Bellevue to a second-place finish in the 15-team TPC Deere Run Invitational. She shot 81 in the first round and improved her score to 76 in the second round. Monfort was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
Her first round score of 81 had her tied for 11th in the field. She recorded a team-best four birdies in the round, including three on the back nine. In the second round she had two more birdies – both on the back nine – as she shot a four-over round which moved her up 11 places in the standings. Her second round 76 was the second-lowest round on the day and tied for the fourth-best round in the tournament.
The Bruins will participate in the Oklahoma City Spring Invite on April 11-12 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
