SILVAS, Ill. -- All five Bellevue University women's golfers shot within a stroke of each other in the first round of the TPC Deere Run Women's Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by William Penn University.

In first place after 18 holes is University of the Cumberlands with a team score of 314, eight strokes ahead of the Bruins in the 15-team field. William Penn and Lindsey Wilson are tied for third with a team score of 327 while Lawrence Tech. rounds out the top five with a score of 333.

Karissa Moreland and Natalia Soria carded identical 80's in the opening round to lead the Bruins and tie for fifth in the overall individual standings. Ivane Helias, golfing as an individual, matched Moreland and Soria with a score of 80 as well.

Wendy Monfort, Maria Saavedra, and Renee Santoyo all fired rounds of 81 on the afternoon. The trio is tied for 11^th overall in the individual standings.

Helias was the lone Bruin to notch an eagle on the day, doing so on the par-five 17^th hole, to go along with another birdie on the 10^th hole. Monfort recorded a team-best four birdies on the day (4^th, 11^th, 17^th, 18^th) while Moreland also holed multiple birdies (14^th, 17^th).

Saavedra (16^th), Santoyo (18^th), and Soria (16^th) each had a birdie as well.

Helias had the best nine-hole score, recording a one-over on the back nine while Moreland and Santoyo each shot a two-over on the back nine.

The action continues tomorrow with the second – and final – round of the TPC Deere Run Invite.
