Women’s Golf owns vast 19-stroke lead after first round of NSAA Tournament

OXBOW, N.D. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team owns four of the top seven spots after one round of play at the North Star Athletic Association Fall Qualifier being played at the Oxbow Country Club.

The Course, Oxbow 1 W, is a 5,832 yard par 72 with a rating of 122.

Senior Karissa Moreland is the overall leader after firing a 1-over 73 in the opening round. She sits three strokes ahead of teammate Renee Santoyo who was the only other golfer in the field within five strokes of even on the day.

Freshman Wendy Monfort is tied for fifth after carding an opening round 81 while senior Natalia Soria checks in at seventh with a first round 82. Senior Maria Saavedra is tied for 10th after a first round score of 85.

As a team Bellevue owns a 19-stroke lead over second place Viterbo after recording a team score of 312 in the opening round.

Play continues tomorrow with a 10 a.m. tee time.
