Bellevue in a tie for sixth after Day 2 at Nationals

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The Bellevue University women's golf team dropped into a tie for sixth place after the second day of competition at the 27-team NAIA Women's Golf National Championships at the Savannah Quarters Country Club. 

The Bruins shot a team total of 318 on the day for a 36-hole total of 618. Bellevue is nine strokes off the lead of Northwood (Fla.) University, which shot 301 on Wednesday for a 609 total. University of the Cumberlands shot the day's best round with a 298 and is in second place with a 610 (312-298) total. 

Junior Renee Santoyo shot the Bruins' top round on the day, finishing with a 3-over par 75, putting her in a tie for 21st with a 153 two-day total. Charlene Dubois is also tied for 21st, shooting an 81 after firing an opening round even-par 72. Natalia Soria shot a 7-over 79 and is currently tied for 32nd with a 155 (76-79) total. 

Karissa Moreland shot an 83 on the day and is tied for 44th with a 36-hole total of 157 (74-83). Rounding out the Bruin scoring was Maria Saavedra with an 84 for a 169 total. 

Houston-Victoria's Heather Shake leads the 143-player field with a 1-under par total after 36 holes (73-70).

The 72-hole tournament will conclude on Friday, May 15.
