MOLINE, Ill. -- Renee Santoyo followed up her first round 76 with an identical second round score to pace the Bellevue University women's golf team to a first place finish at the TPC Deere Run hosted by William Penn University. The Bruins' two round score of 633 was four shots better than the host Statesmen.
Santoyo tied for first overall with Maggie Yang of William Penn after entering the day one stroke back. Natalia Soria was third overall after shooting 81 today for a two-round total of 159.
Maria Saavedra and Charlene Dubois tied for fifth overall with scores of 161 after shooting 85 and 83 in the second round, respectively. Karissa Moreland carded an 89 on the afternoon for a total score of 170.
The course, noted for its difficulty and length, hosts the John Deere Classic, a PGA Tournament that runs from July 9-12 and shells out a purse worth $4.7 million.
Bellevue returns to the links on Monday, April 13 when they host the two-day Bellevue University Spring Invitational at The Pines Country Club in Valley, Neb.
