Bruins capture Susie Maxwell Berning Classic title

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- Natalia Soria placed second overall in a field of 75 golfers to lead the Bellevue University women's golf team to the championship of the 2014 Susie Maxwell Berning Classic hosted by Oklahoma City University at Lincoln Park Golf Course Tuesday.

The Bruins finished the 54-hole event with a team score of 882 (18-over par), nine strokes ahead of second-place Oklahoma Christian University.

Soria tied for second after regulation and birdied the second playoff hole to take the runnerup trophy. She finished 2-over par for the tournament with a score of 218. Renee Santoyo was one stroke back at 219, tying for fourth place overall. 

Maria Saavedra finished 6-over par (222) and in a tie for eighth place. Charlene Dubois and Karissa Moreland both tied for 20th after finishing with a three-round total of 226. 

Ivon Reijers of Redlands Community College captured the individual title with a 7-under par total of 209. 

The Bruins will next be in action on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 29-30, at the University of South Dakota Coyote Classic, being held at Dakota Dunes Country Club in Dakota Dunes, S.D.
