CEDAR HILL, Texas -- Led by Maria Saavedra's individual title, the Bellevue Univeristy women's golf team claimed the team championship Tuesday after the third and final round of the Northwood Bluebonnet Championship at Tangle Ridge Golf Course.
The Bruins, who won the tournament by 26 strokes, have now captured seven events this season, including their last six.
Saavedra won by one stroke over Northwood's Daniela Martinez, finishing with a three-round total of 12-over par 228 (78-72-78).
Renee Santoyo placed fifth after recording the Bruins' top round of the day, 76. She finished the tournament with a 232 (79-77-76) total.
Natalia Soria finished in sixth place after recording a 54-hole total of 233 (80-75-78).
Charlene Dubois, who finished in eighth in her first career tournament, recorded rounds of 84, 74 and 77 for a two-day total of 235.
Karissa Moreland registered a hole-in-one, which marks the second ace of the season for BU. Moreland finished the tournament with scores of 84, 83 and 80 to place in a tie for 20th.
Jayme Harmelink also notched a hole-in-one on Sept. 23 at the Doane Invitational.
Other Bruin golfers included Dawn Florance (78-95-87--260), Izzy Hernandez (89-88--84--261) and Harmelink (93-84--84--261) who competed as individuals.
The 8th-ranked Bruins will compete in the Peru State Spring Invitational on April 6-7 in Nebraska City, Neb. at Table Rock Golf Course
