KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Bellevue University sophomore Karissa Moreland has been named this week's NAIA National Women's Golfer of the Week announced by the national office on Wednesday.

Moreland tied the course record and won the individual title with a 2-under-par 70 at the Iowa Intercollegiate Championships last week. The Bruins won the eight-team event, which was held at The Preserve Golf Course in Moravia, Iowa, with a team score of 311.

The native of North Platte, Neb. owns four top 10 finishes in her first season at Bellevue. Moreland's round of 70 also tied a school record.

This marks the first time in program history a Bruin has earned National Golfer of the Week honors by the NAIA.

The BU women's golf team will return to action when they travel to Cedar Hill, Texas on March 31-April 1 to compete in the Northwood Bluebonnet Championship at Tangle Ridge Golf Course.
