MORAVIA, Iowa -- Karissa Moreland tied a course record with a score of 70 to lead the Bellevue University women's golf team to a first place finish at the Iowa Intercollegiate Championships hosted by William Penn University at the Preserve Golf Course.
Due to expected cold temperatures tomorrow, the second round was canceled.
The Bruins won the eight-team tournament by nine strokes after posting a team score of 311, while host William Penn finished second (320).
Natalia Soria placed third after firing a 6-over-par 78. Maria Saavedra tied for fourth with a score of 80 while Izzy Hernandez shot an 83 and tied for seventh overall. Renee Santoyo tied for 10th with a score of 84.
Moreland, Saavedra and Soria were each named to the all-tournament team.
The Bruins will travel to Cedar Hill, Texas on March 31-April 1 to compete in the Northwood Bluebonnet Championship at Tangle Ridge Golf Course.
