OMAHA, Neb. -- Led by Maria Saavedra, who collected a hole-in-one in the first round, the Bellevue University women's golf team is currently in fifth place in the 12-team Creighton Classic Monday at the Oak Hills Country Club.
Saavedra, who collected a hole-in-one on the 12th hole (165 yards), is tied for second with an first round score of 4-over 76.
The Bruins shot a team score of 326, 15 shots off the pace of tournament leader Northern Iowa.
Nine of the 12 teams in the tournament are NCAA Division I schools.
Renee Santoyo is tied for sixth with a 6-over 78. Natalia Soria shot an 82 and is tied for 23rd. Christina VonRiesen shot a 90 and is tied for 56th. Izzy Hernandez is tied for 61st with a 91.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday (April 16) with a 10:30 a.m. start time.
