SEBRING, Fla. -- Paced by Maria Saavedra's second place finish, the Bellevue University women's golf team captured the team title Tuesday at the Warner Golf Classic played at the Sun'n Lake Golf & Country Club.
The Bruins won the team title by 21 strokes over second-place Webber International University, finishing with a two-day total of 678.
Saavedra was the tournament runnerup after firing a five-over par 77 on the day and 161 for the tournament. Renee Santoyo placed third with a two-round total of 163 (86-77). Izzy Hernandez finished seventh with a 168 (84-84).
Paige Moffit of Johnson & Wales University won the individual title with a two-round total of 158 (80-78).
The 77's shot by Saavedra and Santoyo were the lowest rounds of the day and the tournament.
The Bruins return to action when they host the Bellevue Spring Invitational on March 25-26 in Valley, Neb. at the Pines Country Club.
