
SMITHVILLE, Mo. -- Freshman Maria Saavedra shot a 3-over-par 75 to pace the Bellevue University women's golf team to a 12-shot lead in the Park University Fall Invite Monday at the Posse at Paradise Pointe.
Saavedra is currently in second place in the individual standings, two strokes behind Lincoln's Kaitlyn Schwartze.
Izzy Hernandez shot an opening round score of 80 and is in fifth place. Renee Santoyo and Christina VonRiesen are tied for sixth as both shot a first-round score of 83. Taylor Byers is tied for 11th place with an 85.
The tournament will conclude on Tuesday (Oct. 16) with a 9 a.m. start time.
