
EMPORIA, Kan. -- Gabby Moore and Danielle Coyer scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough as the Bellevue University women's basketball team fell to NCAA Division II Emporia State Univerisity, 89-59, Tuesday night in an exhibition contest at White Auditorium.
Moore led the Bruins with 17 points, going 5-of-11 from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Coyer added 12 points, six rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal.
The Hornets were led by Grace Gilpins's 20 points, six assists and two rebounds. Jayla Cornelius recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists. Makenzie McDaniel added 12 points and 15 rebounds for another double-double.
Bellevue shot just 28.1 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from long range and was outrebounded 54-32.
Emporia State (5-5), who never trailed in the contest, shot 47.4 percent from the field and benefitted from an 18-1 advantage in second-chance points.
Bellevue (9-3) will travel across town for a 6 p.m. exhibition contest tomorrow (Dec. 18) night at NCAA Division I University of Nebraska-Omaha.
