
BELLEVUE, Neb. -- Behind a barrage of 12 three-pointers the Bellevue University women's basketball team defeated College of Saint Mary 88-47 on Monday evening in the Bruins' final non-conference turn-up before beginning NSAA play this weekend.
With the victory, BU improves to 7-3 on the year while CSM's seventh-straight loss drops the Flames to 1-9 overall.
Gabby Moore paced five Bruins in double figures with a game-best 18 points. Josias Mickens added 13, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out a game-high six assists. Zakiyyah Muhammad, Brandi Dunn, and Danielle Coyer each chipped in 10. Coyer's 10 points represented a career-high, as did her seven rebounds.
Madelyn Gaughen and Haley Debuse scored 10 apiece in the loss for CSM.
The Flames took their lone lead of the game on a corner three from Ella Klusman at the 6:23 mark of the first quarter before Bellevue ran off eight-straight, part of a larger 17-7 scoring run to close the first quarter with a 21-12 advantage.
In just 3:13 of game time in the second quarter, BU pushed their lead to 20 points, thanks to a trio of three-pointers from Gabby Moore, the last of which made it 35:15. Consecutive baskets from Gaughen and Meghan Kiel cut the deficit temporarily but Bellevue responded with a 15-0 scoring run and took a 31-point lead, 52-21, into the half.
The lead reached as high as 44 in the third quarter when Mailey Malone connected on a 20-foot jumper for her first college points with 25 seconds to play.
The Bruins finished +16 on the glass (51-35) and +9 in turnovers (5-14), out-scoring the Flames 17-0 in points off turnovers.
Bellevue kicks off their North Star Athletic Association slate on Friday, Dec. 13 with a 5:30 p.m. tip against #18 Mayville State University.
