BELLEVUE, Neb. -- The Bellevue University women's basketball team shook off a mini two-game skid with a 77-55 win over Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday evening at the Gordon Lozier Athletic Center.
Bellevue improved to 6-3 with the win, while Nebraska Wesleyan saw their record fall to 0-7, losing their 34th-straight game dating back to the 2022-23 season.
Ashtyn Arnold and Gabby Moore scored 17 and 15, respectively to lead the Bruins. Arnold added seven rebounds and three assists.
Dru Zoucha, Brandi Dunn, and Kaylee Denker chipped in eight points apiece, while Josias Mickens finished with a 5-point, 9-rebound, 9-assist, 4-steal line.
Scoring was stagnant in the early going, with BU owning a 6-2 lead at the 7:40 mark on threes from Arnold and Moore. BU went cold, missing their next six shots, while NWU enjoyed a 10-0 scoring run to double up the Bruins at the 4:32 mark.
Dunn rattled off four-straight for BU as the Bruins answered with a 10-2 run until a put-back layup from Carney Black at the buzzer tied the game at 16-all after one-quarter of play.
Bellevue and Nebraska Wesleyan traded buckets early in the second quarter, though the Bruins were making threes while the Prairie Wolves were taking twos. Five straight from Zoucha pushed the BU lead to seven, 27-20. BU took a 37-28 advantage into the half.
The Bruins extended their lead in the third. After a free throw from Brynn Sebek to open the scoring, BU engineered a 7-2 scoring run for a 14-point advantage.
Three-pointers from Danielle Coyer and Anna Long late in the period gave Bellevue their largest lead to that point, 63-42.
The lead grew to as many as 26 when Denker found Aminah Hall for an uncontested layup at the 4:23 mark. As both teams emptied their benches, NWU scored six straight points before Long closed the scoring with a three-pointer.
Bellevue knocked down 12 three-pointers as a team and won both the rebounding (46-36) and turnover battle (14-24) by 10. They held the Prairie Wolves to just a 27% effort (3-11) from three.
The Bruins continue their seven-game homestand on Monday, Dec. 9, when they welcome College of Saint Mary for a 7 p.m. tip.
