Road woes continue in loss at DSU

MADISON, S.D. -- Dakota State University dealt the Bellevue University women's basketball team their fourth-straight road loss, 81-32, on Wednesday evening at the DSU Memorial Fieldhouse.

Ninth-ranked and league-leading Dakota State improves to 21-4 on the year, remaining unbeaten in North Star Athletic Association play at 9-0. Bellevue slides to 10-14 overall and 3-6 in NSAA action.

Tabor Teel produced a game-high 17 points to lead the Trojans. Joining her in double figures was Savannah Walsdorf who scored 11 and grabbed eight rebounds to lead DSU.

Ashtyn Arnold led Bellevue with 10 points and seven rebounds. She was supported by Kaylee Denker and Zakiyyah Muhammad's six points apiece.

Kaylee Denker put Bellevue on the board first with an elbow jumper but DSU answered with an 8-0 scoring run before another Denker bucket at the 7:19 mark, the final Bruin field goal of the quarter. The Trojans closed the period by scoring the final 13 points to take a 23-5 lead after one.

DSU grew their lead to 26 with under four minutes to play and at halftime the hosts led 33-11 behind a 14-0 advantage in points off turnovers. The Bruins shot 20% and turned the ball over 13 times in the opening 20 minutes.

The Bruins are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 10 against #12 Mayville State University at the Lewy Lee Fieldhouse at 3 p.m.
